Jason Allen
Jason "Jay" Allen began his real estate career in 1997, performing feasibility studies and evaluations and analyzing hundreds of self-storage properties nationwide. He's well-versed in self-storage brokerage, management, marketing and consulting. Jay co-founded Performance Self Storage Group with Carl Touhey in 2010. The company specializes in self-storage brokerage. Together, they have completed more than $350 million in self-storage sales in California.

Pamela Alton
Pamela Alton is founder and CEO of Santa Barbara-Calif.-based Mini-Management Services, which provides job placement, facility audits and inspections, due-diligence inspections, feasibility studies, consulting, and staff training. Founded in 1991, Mini-Management was the first company in the industry to formulate a professional, confidential manager-placement service. Pam has been a featured speaker at many industry events, conducting seminars privately and with other respected consultants. She has authored and co-authored several manuals and written many articles for industry magazines.

Ernesto Arzac
Ernesto Arzac is the president and franchise CEO of Bodegas Usted Guarda, the industry's pioneer in Mexico with 17 facilities that are co-owned, operated and developed under a franchise scheme. With more than 20 years of experience, Bodegas Usted Guarda has grown internationally, assisting in the development, operations and marketing of self-storage in Costa Rica, Panamá, Guatemala, Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile. Ernesto is a former board member for the Latin American Self Storage Association as an ambassador of Mexico.

M. Anne Ballard
Anne Ballard is president of training, marketing and developmental services for Universal Storage Group and the founder of Universal Management Co. She's a former president and current board member of the Georgia Self Storage Association and has served on the national Self Storage Association's board of directors. Anne co-authored the original copyrighted rental and employment agreements for Georgia and assisted in executing four changes to the Georgia self-storage statutes. She has participated in the planning, design and operation of numerous storage facilities, nine of which have been "Facility of the Year" award winners. Anne frequently speaks at industry events and is known worldwide as "The Hat Lady."

Jason Barrett
Jason Barrett is CEO of Go Local Interactive, a full-service online-marketing agency that manages millions of dollars in advertising for nearly a dozen large storage companies. He has participated as a speaker and panel participant in numerous advertising forums, including those at the Search Marketing Expo conference. He's responsible for directing product offerings including search engine optimization, website development, social media and listing management. Jason has a bachelor's degree in business and an MBA.

David Blum
David Blum worked as a district manager for Storage USA and as vice president of operation for Budget Mini-Storage in South Florida before launching his own consulting firm in 2003. As the owner of Better Management Systems LLC, David assists self-storage clients worldwide with issues of self-storage feasibility, development and management. He works with clients in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the United States. David also co-founded the Florida Self Storage Association, serving as president in 2004 and 2011.

Bob Boilini
Bob Boilini is business development manager for the self-storage division of Baja Construction Co. Inc., responsible for marketing the company’s buildings nationwide. Bob has more than 30 years of experience in the sales and marketing of light-gauge steel-building systems. He previously worked for BETCO Inc. and Cannonball:HNP, a manufacturer of agricultural and commercial doors, sliding-door hardware, and other metal-building accessories. He also founded the ACERO Group in 2010 to serve the building-component, self‐storage and engineered-systems industries.

Ben Burkhart
Ben Burkhart owns BKB Properties Inc., a consulting firm that provides feasibility and due-diligence studies for self-storage owners, buyers and developers. With a detailed analysis of local markets, Ben makes recommendations that enable good projects to achieve maximum value and profitability. Before opening his company in 2006, he worked as a lender with Wells Fargo, specializing in self-storage transactions. He has actively worked on more 300 storage-development projects and is the managing partner and primary developer of a 70,000-square-foot self-storage facility near Richmond, Va.

Jim Chiswell
Jim Chiswell, president of Chiswell & Associates LLC, has been involved in the self-storage industry for 30 years. He launched his consulting firm in 1990. A speaker at the Inside Self-Storage World Expo since its inception, Jim is also a member of the Inside Self-Storage Editorial Advisory Board. He's considered one of the top self-storage consultants in the nation.

Wendy Christie
Based in Great Falls, Mont., Wendy Christie has more than 20 years of experience in employee relations. As a human resources consultant, she has helped many companies develop legally compliant employee handbooks and documentation. She's had great success in consulting on a number of investigations on sexual harassment, embezzlement and workplace bullying. She's the author of a number of articles on hiring practices, embezzlement and legally compliant employment practices and dress code in today's culture. Wendy's focus is on helping employers stay out of court with employee claims.

Bob Copper
Bob Copper is owner and partner in charge of Self Storage 101, an industry consulting firm specializing in operational improvement, training, audits, feasibility and market studies, and due diligence. As a prominent consultant, author, speaker and trainer, Bob has worked with hundreds of self-storage owners, operators and managers to develop strategies for operational improvement, revenue growth and value enhancement. As a self-storage owner himself, he also has a unique perspective that relates to working with other operators.

Marlene Corpus
Marlene Corpus has been with 21st Century Storage since March 2009, working from coast to coast as regional manager and later being promoted to her current position as marketing director. Self-storage marketing and training are Marlene's passion. Her goal is to train managers on how to better market their facilities.

Kenneth Crowne
Kenneth Crowne has more than 15 years of direct-selling experience, building inside sales and collections systems for some of North America's largest banks and credit card companies. Now in business development for Next Door Storage and CallPotential, Ken brought his experience to the self-storage industry three years ago. He’s excited to consult and share best practices from outside the industry to help build sales, customer relationship management and call-center solutions for storage operators looking to take charge of their businesses.

Monica Cunningham
Monica Cunningham joined Sterling Management in 2009 and has held various positions within the company including area manager, lease-up manager and, most recently, training manager. She’s highly involved in the marketing and training efforts for the company’s newly constructed or acquired self-storage facilities. With five years of experience in property management, she plays a key role in stabilizing new or underperforming assets. Monica also serves as the lead trainer for Sterling's in-house leasing course and regularly hosts webinars for the company's 300-plus onsite colleagues.

Ted Dobbs
Ted Dobbs is the protection sales leader with Deans & Homer. He began his insurance career in New York with American International Group Inc. 37 years ago, underwriting and placing reinsurance. He joined Deans & Homer in San Francisco in 1986. For the last 10 years, he’s been working with self-storage owners and operators to assess and manage risk, and improve their bottom line. He’s well-known for his expressive “triangle drawing.” Ask him to draw it for you!

Rick Dodge
Rick Dodge, executive vice president of Paramount Metal Systems, has more than 30 years of experience in the manufacture, design, engineering and installation of self-storage buildings. He’s overseen the design and construction of more than 100 million square feet of self-storage and has been instrumental in the innovation of light-gauge steel design, having co-designed the 5-by-10 framing grid system for single- and multi-story storage construction. Rick’s expertise in metal-building construction, light-gauge steel design, steel trusses and components manufacturing are invaluable to his clients.

Dallas Dogger
Dallas Dogger has been in the self-storage industry since 1984, both as an operator and as a founding member of the Self Storage Association of Australia. In 2006, he launched Centreforce Technology Group Pty. Ltd., which represents several software suppliers and is the largest provider of self-storage websites in Australia. Dallas promotes industry tradeshows in Australia and is involved in Storage Expo Asia. He's also a director of Capital Business Parks, a property-development company with holdings in excess of $60 million. He writes for industry magazines and is a speaker at self-storage conferences.

Timothy Garey
Hani Elgebaly
Hani Elgebaly is the founder and CEO of AvidBeam Technologies Inc., a video analytics and packaging company. Before founding the firm, he spent 19 years with Intel Corp. in Egypt and the United States. During his tenure there, he led the instantiation of the Intel Mobile Platform Software Group in Bangalore, India, and championed the first instantiation of Intel Labs in Africa and the Middle East in Cairo. He’s a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He received his doctorate and master’s degree in computer science from the Universities of Victoria and Saskatchewan in Canada.

Barry Finder
Barry Finder runs the client-relations department at SpareFoot, an online marketplace for self-storage consumers. Originally from Westchester County, N.Y., Barry graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut with high honors in sociology and also holds a master’s degree in cognitive science. He has four years of leadership experience in client-facing marketing and services. He’s passionate about technology, specifically working to develop and optimize products to best serve and complement clients’ businesses.

Timothy Garey
Timothy Garey, director of the Self Storage Industry Group (SSIG) at Cushman & Wakefield, has been in the real estate valuation profession since 1993. He joined Cushman & Wakefield of Oregon Inc. in 2001. During his tenure, he’s worked on various U.S. property portfolios including vacant land, office buildings, industrial complexes, automobile dealerships, golf courses, veterinary clinics and manufactured-housing communities. Timothy has been part of the SSIG over the past eight years, involved in more than 150 self-storage assignments.

Seth Giersdorf
Seth Giersdorf has been with Sterling Management for more than 12 years. As a Regional Vice President, he directly oversees the operation of over 1 million square feet of self-storage space (nearly 10,000 units) as well as multiple apartment communities located throughout the Midwest and Southeast. Seth excels in relationships with industry owners, investors, vendors and colleagues. He has the ability to quickly assess any storage property and can swiftly develop and execute a plan for success.

John H. Gilliland
John Gilliland is president and CEO of the Investment Real Estate Group of Companies, which provides self-storage brokerage, management, feasibility, construction and insurance services. John's experience includes the brokerage of more than 300 storage properties, the management of more than 75 stores and the construction of 2.5 million square feet of self-storage. He was a founding member of the Pennsylvania Self Storage Association, where he served as president for five years. He was elected to the board of directors of the national Self Storage Association in 2003 and served as chairman in 2007. He owns 15 facilities in Maryland and Pennsylvania under the Moove In Self Storage name.

Marc Goodin
Marc Goodin is president of Storage Authority Franchising, a new U.S. franchise opportunity for the self-storage industry. Marc designed and permitted his first self-storage facility more than 25 years ago as a young civil engineer. Since then, he's successfully designed and provided consulting for hundreds of self-storage owners. He built his first storage facility more than 10 years ago and currently owns three that he personally designed, built and manages. Marc has shared his street smarts in books on industry development and marketing, which are sold through the Inside Self-Storage Store.

Chuck Gordon
Chuck Gordon is co-founder and CEO at SpareFoot, an online marketplace for self-storage that was launched in 2008. Chuck holds a fine arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he founded SpareFoot from his dorm room. The company pioneered online-comparison shopping for storage consumers and the pay-per-rental model for storage facilities. SpareFoot continues to be on the cutting edge of Web-based marketing solutions.

William Gray
William Gray started in the industry as a store manager for Uncle Bob's Self Storage in 2003. He was promoted to training manager and later area manager for the Atlanta market. He left Uncle Bob's in 2010 to join Iron Guard Storage as regional manager. Iron Guard has a portfolio of nearly 10 facilities across Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Jeffrey Greenberger
Jeffrey Greenberger is a partner in the Cincinnati law firm of Katz, Greenberger & Norton LLP, where he focuses his practice on commercial real estate with a concentration in self-storage. Jeff assists operators in the design and implementation of legal policies and procedures, and operational issues. He's the legal advisor to several state self-storage associations and a featured speaker for national and state tradeshows. He's a regular contributor to the Inside Self-Storage magazine, expo, website and store.

Neal Gussis
Neal Gussis is a principal at CCM Commercial Mortgage, where he provides mortgage brokerage and advisory services with a specialty in self-storage. For more than 20 years, Neal has sourced well in excess of $1 billion in financing as a direct lender and mortgage broker. Owners have come to know they can trust Neal to provide expert advice and know he has extensive reach to a wide variety of capital sources. He also has a background in storage ownership and management.

Michael Gutmann
Michael Gutmann is the owner and operator of Reed Market Storage in Bend, Ore., which he co-developed in 2005. Mike previously worked as a software engineer for 20 years at Intel Corp., where his contributions included the widely used RMX operating system and the Intel Videophone. He's the co-author of 10 patents in video conferencing and digital video, and he has degrees in math and computer science from the University of Minnesota. Mike has taught math, statistics and computer science at post-secondary schools since 2004 and at the University of Portland since 2010.

Wadih Haddad
Wadih Haddad is founder and CEO of The Box, a self-storage operator in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Wadih earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the American University of Beirut in 2003 and started his career in logistics with Expeditors of Washington in 2004. He founded The Box in 2007, managing to grow the business throughout the UAE. The company has more than 24 facilities in five countries and 10 cities, ranking No. 72 on the Dubai SME 100 list. Wadih is passionate about self-storage and involved in supporting entrepreneurs, from startup to growth.

Susan Haviland
Susan Haviland is the owner of Haviland Storage Services and a partner in Self Storage 101. She has more than 25 years of industry experience, from serving as a site manager to acting as vice president of operations at Extra Space Storage Inc. and Price Self Storage. Sue has extensive experience in employee relations, training, auditing, software conversions and operational policies and procedures. She's a frequent speaker at industry conferences and tradeshows. Sue currently serves on the board of directors for Charity Storage.

Robert Hayworth
Robert "Bob" Hayworth is owner and CEO of Baja Construction Co. Inc., a design/build company specializing in carports and RV/boat storage. Baja has been in business for more than 25 years, with estimated annual revenue in excess of $25 million. Bob designed the patent-pending Solar Support System, which Baja has successfully implemented in the installation of more than 5 megawatts of fully integrated solar- and RV-shading structures. Bob is frequently invited to speak at industry events about solar-integrated carports and RV ports.

Shawn Hill is a principal at The BSC Group, where he's responsible for advising clients regarding debt and equity financing and loan-workout services for all commercial property types, with an emphasis on self-storage. Shawn is a frequent speaker at self-storage tradeshows and a contributing author to industry publications. His professional background includes work at two credit-rating agencies, Duff & Phelps and Fitch Ratings Inc., and as a senior vice president with Beacon Realty Capital Inc.

Mel Holsinger
Mel Holsinger is principal, president and CEO of Professional Self Storage Management LLC (PSSM), a third-party management, consulting and development firm he founded in Tucson, Ariz., in 2004. The company manages facilities in Arizona, California, Colorado and Texas. In 2012, PSSM merged with the Argus Self Storage Sales Network, also operating as the newly formed Argus Professional Storage Management LLC. Mel contributes regularly to the Inside Self-Storage magazine and website. He's a frequent speaker at industry events.

Devin Huber, a principal at The BSC Group, is responsible for arranging debt and equity for his clients' real estate transactions, providing a solution for the entire capital stack. His expertise and advisory services span all property types with a specialization in the self-storage asset class. Prior to helping found BSC, Devin was a senior vice president at Beacon Realty Capital and a key member of the firm's Self Storage Group. Dean Jernigan founded Jernigan Capital LLC in 2014 after retiring from his role as CEO of CubeSmart. As a direct lender, Jernigan Capital is a merchant bank and advisory firm focused solely on the self-storage market. Dean has more than 30 years of industry experience, having founded Storage USA Inc. in 1984. In 2006, he became CEO of U-Store-It Trust Inc., which changed its branding to CubeSmart in 2011.

Blake Johnson
Blake Johnson is director of underwriting for Ponderosa Insurance Agency, which has served the self-storage industry for more than 40 years. Ponderosa works exclusively in the storage industry providing property and casualty, risk-management and tenant-insurance products. Blake has 12 years of insurance experience including sales, underwriting, marketing and risk management. He holds many insurance-industry designations, including the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation, and is licensed in all 50 states.

Barry Johnston
Barry Johnston, president of Supply Side USA, has a background in business startups, with 20 years of experience in turning around companies in a variety of industries. As a partner in the PWC Group of companies, Barry has overseen sales and operation of Prime Woodcraft Inc., a national manufacturer of new and recycled pallets. For the last six years, Barry’s concentration has been on of Supply Side. Since purchasing the company, he and his partners have turned it into a successful supplier to the self-storage and parcel industries.

Bruce Jordan
Bruce Jordan is president of Jordan Architects Inc. He's recognized as an expert in the area of self-storage design, having designed more than 1,500 projects in Canada, Europe and the United States. He's won several honors for his designs, including "Facility of the Year" awards in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Bruce has more than 30 years of experience and has been at the forefront of many design innovations for self-storage projects.

Tron Jordheim
Tron Jordheim is chief marketing officer of StorageMart, which owns and operates 163 storage facilities in the United States and Canada, and director of PhoneSmart, which provides call-center services and sales training to the self-storage industry. Tron is a frequent speaker at self-storage events and a contributor to industry trade journals. He started his first business in the sixth grade with a roll of paper towels and a can of window cleaner and has been running businesses ever since.

Jeff Kinder
Jeff Kinder started his self-storage career in 1986 with National Self Storage. He was later recruited to Public Storage Inc., where he served as a regional manager, the national director of marketing, and vice president of the management division. Jeff is currently president of Advantage Advisors LLC, a self-storage syndication and management company he founded in 1997. Besides operating its own portfolio, Advantage provides direct investment, syndication, management and consulting services to the self-storage industry.

RK Kliebenstein
RK Kliebenstein, vice president of acquisitions at Chicago-based Metro Storage LLC, has more than 25 years of industry experience. He was formerly president of Coast-To-Coast Storage, a consultancy firm offering feasibility studies, site selection, financing, management and marketing services. An industry speaker, author and expert witness, he's written numerous articles for industry magazines and is the co-author of several books on self-storage investment, including the soon-to-be released "How to Market and Rent Self-Storage Space."

Todd Levy
Todd Levy is a principal and the national sales director for StorSmart Insurance. He has served the self-storage industry for more than 18 years, with experience in business development, renovation, construction costs and marketing. Todd has served as president of the Tennessee Self Storage Association and a board member of the Alabama Self Storage Association. As self-storage operator himself, he uses his expertise to show others how to maximize and stabilize revenue while reducing their risk with tenant insurance.

Warren Lieberman
Warren Lieberman is president of Veritec Solutions, a pricing and revenue-management consultancy. He began his career 30 years ago with American Airlines. Warren is an internationally recognized revenue-management and pricing expert, especially in business environments where these techniques have not been traditionally applied. He began applying revenue-management techniques in self-storage 15 years ago. He's currently working with Uncle Bob's Self Storage, StorageMart and ezStorage. His past experience includes work with Shurgard and StorageUSA.

Jamie Lindau
Jamie Lindau, national sales manager for Trachte Building Systems, has more than 25 years of experience in self-storage building and consulting. During his career, he has assisted more than 1,100 self-storage owners with the acquisition, layout, feasibility, building design and purchase of their sites. He's a regular contributor to Inside Self-Storage magazine and other industry publications. Jamie has conducted more than 220 self-storage development seminars for Trachte since 1987.

Graham Lomax
Graham Lomax is the European director of sales for Janus International, a manufacturer of self-storage roll-up doors and building components. Graham has been with the company since 2007 and working in the European self-storage industry since the late 1990s. He’s been involved in many projects across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Prior to entering the storage industry, Graham was a building surveyor. This background has enabled him to work with self-storage clients from project start to completion and beyond.

Mario Macaluso
Mario Macaluso is co-founder and executive vice president of sales for Storage Business Owners Alliance Tenant Insurance (SBOATI). Mario has served the insurance industry for more than 20 years, beginning his career with Colonial Penn Insurance Co. Prior to joining SBOATI, he also served at The Mahoney Group, one of the largest independent insurance agencies in the country, where he was a member of the Top Producers Club. Mario was also president of the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Greater Phoenix in 2010.

Robert Madsen
Robert Madsen is president of the U-Lock Mini Storage Group and a director of the Canadian Self Storage Association. Born into the industry (his father was a self-storage owner and a president of the Canada association), he grew up eating and sleeping self-storage and now has more than 25 years of professional experience. Robert started in the business with plunger, broom and hammer in hand, progressing to manager and, ultimately, executive. He's a moderator for Self-Storage Talk, the industry's largest online community.

Jasper Mallard
Jasper Mallard, director of self-storage operations for San Diego-based Income Property Investors Inc., has been involved with storage operations and analysis for the past five years. He considers himself a student of a growing and evolving storage industry where there are established best practices but also rewards for innovation. Jasper values incorporating knowledge and experience from other property types, and has operational familiarity with mobile-home parks, multi-family and medical office.

Mark Marshall
Mark Marshall joined self-storage real estate investment trust Extra Space Storage in July 2005 to create a risk-management department. He has more than 18 years of experience in risk-related duties including insurance placement, safety, claims management, and the oversight of complex property and casualty insurance programs. The latest covers more than 1,050 properties that are wholly or jointly owned or managed by Extra Space. Mark graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in finance and holds the designation of Certified Risk Manager. He's served as president of the Utah Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society.

Keith McConnell
Keith McConnell is vice president of business development for MiniCo Insurance Agency LLC, overseeing development efforts for all of the company’s business lines and managing its two tenant-insurance programs. Keith has more than 20 years of customer-service and management experience. Prior to joining MiniCo in 2007, he held senior management positions with Shurgard Storage Centers, Wells Fargo and Charles Schwab. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.

Kathy McElwaine
Kathy McElwaine is director of risk management for self-storage real estate investment trust CubeSmart. Prior to joining the company in September 2010, she was the U.S. insurance manager for furniture manufacturer and retailer IKEA. Kathy has significant experience in department management, property and casualty insurance renewal negotiations, premium allocations, claims management, contract review, insurance budgets, policy implementation, risk analysis, and mitigation. She obtained her bachelor's degree in finance from Immaculata University. She's also a Certified Risk Manager and has an Associate in Risk Management.

Michael Mele
Michael Mele is a senior vice president of investments in the Tampa, Fla., office of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services, where he joined as an agent in 1999. He's also a senior director in the company's National Self Storage Group. With a specialization in self-storage, Michael has closed more than 250 transactions totaling more than $1 billion. He's been named a top Marcus & Millichap broker four times and won the firm's National Achievement Award nine times. Michael is a member of the national Self Storage Association and a former president of the Florida Self Storage Association. He's also a frequent speaker at industry events and a contributing writer to industry publications.

Carol Mixon-Krendl
Carol Mixon-Krendl, owner of SkilCheck Services, has been involved with self-storage since 1984. She has conducted seminars for facility owners and managers on storage-related topics and is considered an expert in all aspects of the industry. Carol has been active in the national Self Storage Association for more than 13 years and is vice president of Excellence in Management, a third-party management company currently managing more than 20 properties.

Ross Mori
Ross Mori, director of engineering for Trachte Building Systems, is a civil and structural engineer with more than 25 years of experience in the self-storage and metal-building industries. Ross has a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and is a licensed engineer in all 50 states. He’s an active member of the American Institute of Steel Construction, Construction Specifications Institute, International Code Council, Light Gauge Steel Engineers Association and Structural Engineers Association of Wisconsin.

Joseph Niemczyk
Joe Niemczyk began his career in public accounting, with specialties in auditing, tax preparation and financial planning. He joined National Self Storage as controller in 1981 and ultimately became president, overseeing the construction and operation of more than 40 self-storage facilities nationwide. In 1986, he co-created Executive Self Storage Associates Inc. (ESSA), which provides management, consulting, design, development, feasibility studies, due diligence and manager training for several hundred stores across Australia, China, Europe and the United States. Joe is a frequent speaker at industry tradeshows and has trained more than 8,000 facility operators.

Brad North
Brad North, president of Advantage Consulting & Management, has trained and consulted with thousands of self-storage owners and developers throughout the world. He provides onsite consulting, manager-training workshops, seminars and feasibility studies. His company manages more than 1 million square feet of self-storage space. Brad produced a DVD and workbook training tool titled, "Maximizing Your Sales and Marketing Program." He speaks regularly at state and national tradeshows.

Elliot Pessis
Elliot Pessis is vice president of Harrison Street Real Estate Capital LLC (HSRE), where he’s the portfolio manager for the company’s Fund V and specializes in the development, asset management, refinancing and disposition of the firm’s self-storage, healthcare and education-related assets. Elliot also assists in evaluating potential acquisition and development opportunities. Prior to joining HSRE, he was the senior analyst at a large finance firm and a commercial banking officer. Eliot graduated from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and is currently pursuing his MBA at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

Philippe Peyrot
Philippe Peyrot co-founded Annexx Self Storage in 2002. Based in Toulouse, France, Annexx owns and operates 13 facilities across the country, comprising approximately 480,000 net rentable square feet and more than 7,500 units. As CEO, Philippe oversees all aspects of the organization. He previously worked in real estate development and also as producer for Electronic Arts in California. Philippe has an MBA from the University of Connecticut.

Guy Pinsent
Guy Pinsent, president and CEO of Europe-based and Canadian-listed Less Mess Storage, is an entrepreneur with a background in real estate investment and development, investment banking (Citibank), and the British Foreign Service. He was formerly a partner in U.K. self-storage company Personal Storage and a developer for Europa Centralna, one of the largest retail developments in Europe. Guy was educated at Eton College and holds a Master of Economics from Cambridge University. He lives in Warsaw, Poland.

Jim Ponti
Jim Ponti began his career in the banking industry as a commercial mortgage lender, asset manager and real estate appraiser. He worked with Safeguard Self Storage for seven years as a national operations manager, overseeing 33 facilities. Since 2002, he's worked for Janus International as a regional sales manager, providing feasibility, design, operations and product-application assistance to facility owners and developers. He's the former president of the Louisiana Self Storage Association and continues to serve on the boards of the Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska and Oklahoma Self Storage Associations. He's also part owner in several Gulf Coast facilities.

Mike Rhoads
Michael Rhoads is executive vice president of PFG Capital, a real estate syndication, development, management, construction and venture-capital company. He's a licensed realtor, property and casualty and surplus lines insurance broker. In 2010, he co-founded Storsmart Insurance, a company specializing in self-storage tenant-contents insurance. Mike is currently responsible for sales, marketing, customer service, operations and program development functions. He's also a board member for the Pennsylvania Self Storage Association.

Holly Ritchie-Fiorello is director of marketing for The Storage Group, an online-marketing agency and Web-development firm specializing in the self-storage Industry. She has more than nine years of digital-marketing experience in business-to-consumer relationships. Barry Sharpe
Barry Sharpe is the managing member and principal at Hialeah, Fla.-based Property Tax Appeal Group LLC, where he oversees every property-tax- appeal case filed with the county's Valuation Adjustment Board on behalf of company clients. Barry has done property-tax-assessment appeals for more than 30 years. He's also the owner of industrial and commercial properties, a real estate broker, and a licensed building contractor. J.B. Sills is the business operations consultant for A+ Management Group, which operates the A+ Storage group of facilities in Tennessee. Chris Sonne is the executive managing director of the Self Storage Industry Group (SSIG) of Cushman & Wakefield, which offers valuations, data and analytics for the self-storage sector. Joseph Torrisi, executive vice president of insurance services for On The Move Inc., got his start in the self-storage industry in 1988 as a facility owner in Mt. Vernon N.Y. Joe has been an owner and operator of several businesses over the past 25 years. He’s the former president of Budget Car & Truck Rental of New York, Grand Rental Station in Mt. Carl Touhey
Carl Touhey began his real estate career in 1986. His family built its first self-storage facility in the 1970s and currently owns and operates eight sites. Carl's interest and success in fixing "problem" properties resulted in an impressive ownership track record. He bought five facilities in the early '90s and still owns several today. He started brokering storage properties in California in the 1990s, and he's personally brokered more than $550 million in sales. In 2010, he and Jason Allen co-founded of Performance Self Storage Group, which specializes in self-storage brokerage and consulting in California.

Kenneth Weiner
Kenneth Weiner has been a professional commercial real estate operator since 1983. He's the president of JK Investment Properties, which forms investment groups and offers property-management services. Ken has created more than 25 investment groups. He's also the founder of the Nevada Self Storage Association and served as its president from 2004 to 2010. He is a partner in Global Box, which funded $20 million to open three self-storage facilities in Madrid, Spain. He's also a partner in select StorageOne properties in Las Vegas.

Ray Wilson
Charles Ray Wilson is a recognized authority on self-storage investment analysis and a regular speaker at industry tradeshows. With more than 40 years of experience, Ray founded Charles R. Wilson & Associates Inc. in 1976 before selling the self-storage appraisal company in 2007 to concentrate full time on Self Storage Data Services Inc. (SSDS), a research company he also founded in 1992. Ray sold SSDS, which tracks the operating performance of several thousand facilities, to Cushman & Wakefield in June 2011. Orlando Wong
Orlando Wong is the general manager for Mega Storage in Panama. Orlando has been involved in the self-storage industry since 2002 after he retired from his post as a major in the U.S. Army. He began with AAA Mini Almacenes and later joined Caribbean Self Storage in Puerto Rico. Orlando worked his way up to general manager with Mega Storage. He was involved in all aspects of the construction, operations, marketing and development of more than 12 self-storage facilities in the Caribbean, Colombia and Panama.
